On June 7, 1958 the world received a gift in the form of Prince Rogers Nelson aka The Purple One, The Artist, The Artist Formally Known As Prince, the only known artist to get away without even having a name (i know ya'll remember that symbol)! One of the baddest bass players to ever hold the instrument & speaking of instruments, he played them all, 27 to be exact (can you even name 27 instruments cause i'm stuck lol). He revolutionized music as we know it & changed how an artist wrote, produced, performed & did business. Prince sold over 100 million records worldwide making him one of the best selling artists of all time. Along with 7 grammys, he also won a golden globe & even an Oscar for the cult classic Purple Rain. On the morning of Thursday April 21, 2016 we lost that gift. He will forever be a part of our hearts & leaves behind a legacy of music mastery & philanthropy. Though i didn't know him personally his music touched my life & was the soundtrack to some of my life experiences because that's what great musicians do, they make you feel as if they know your pain, your hopes & dreams...Purple Rain, Adore You & Beautiful Ones are 3 of my favorite songs, what are some of your Prince favorites?

After shedding a few tears over the artist, i only had a day & a half to recuperate before Beyonce completely snatched my edges out. Back in February Queen Bey blessed us out of no where with Formation, the politically charged video leading up to her Superbowl performance & how dare she, the announcement of another tour! As i logged into my wells fargo app to make sure my checking & savings were aligned I wondered, what on earth does she have up her sleeve? She must have something because as much as i love my girl I refuse to pay to see her perform single ladies again! I'm lying but anyway, where is the new music? I need it now!! I, as many other fans did, secured my tickets & waited patiently for the album to drop. Fast forward 2 months...nothing, absolutely nothing, are you kidding me Bey, wheres the album? How can i sing along to whatever you're dropping if i don't have time to practice lol & then right there on her instgram page, there she was, in all her glory smiling with a lemon, what the hell is this Bey? Are you selling lemonade now, I'm totally confused at this point until i realize that it represented Lemonade, a special on HBO airing Saturday April 23, 2016. Could this be it, is this the album? Well it wasn't the album, it was so much more, it was everything i had been waiting for! Amazing visuals, deeply personal lyrics (some of which spoke to my own problems) & over flowing with black girl magic!!
